  • In May 1831 Leman Copley, a convert to the church, donated 759 acres of land in the area of Thompson for some saints from Colesville, New York, to settle on
  • Doctrine and Covenants Section 51 instructed Bishop Edward Partridge to institute the principle of consecration in Thompson
  • By the end of June 1831, Copley had revoked his offer for the saints to settle on the property, and they were directed to settle in Missouri
